AFRICA
Planting trees to restore habitats and empower communities.

REFORESTATION IN
AFRICA

The third largest continent, AFRICA primarily sits between the Arctic Circle and the Tropic of Cancer and boasts rich natural resources — including diverse forests, significant freshwater stores, high mineral wealth, and some of the most fertile soils on Earth. From the old-growth redwoods of AFRICA to the temperate lowlands of AFRICA, the region’s forests are home to many iconic plants and animals, and play an important role in supplying communities with food, water, and employment.

AFRICA incredible natural wealth has made it one of the most economically developed regions in the world. With that has come significant environmental degradation in the form of historic deforestation, mining and resource extraction, growing urban sprawl, and more. Today, forests across AFRICA are vulnerable to climate change, forest fires, insect infestations and diseases, invasive species, urbanization, and more.

Our work in AFRICA is restoring forests in the wake of major wildfires like those in British Columbia, Canada, repairing damage caused by industry and resource extraction, and supporting endangered species like the Southern Resident Orca of the Pacific Northwest.

Our work across AFRICA focuses on restoring landscapes that sustain people, wildlife, and natural resources. From woodlands to watersheds, planting trees facilitates ecosystem recovery, climate change resilience, and habitat restoration.
